Vermont Rock Climbing

Convention members interested in rock climbing will find Vermont provides a wide range of climbing opportunities. In addition the spectacular climbing destinations of the Adirondacks in New York with Rumney, Cathedral Ledge, and Cannon Cliff in New Hampshire offer world class climbing a few hours away.

Field Trips
The convention will offer two organized rock climbing field trips. Both trips will be to central Vermont less than an hour drive from the convention site. Each area will offer opportunities for people of all abilities, with sport and traditional lead climbing mostly starting at about 5.9 and 5.7 respectively.

Lower Bolton offers opportunities for climbers of all abilities however the field trip will be designed for beginning rock climbers or people who would like to try rock climbing. Experienced climbers can find routes to lead or people may practice SRT on this field trip.

The second field trip for advanced climbers will be at Upper Bolton. This trip offers opportunities for people with lead rock climbing experience. This cliff offers routes to 5.12 with the New England classic crack climb “The Rose” (5.10). Note there are limited top roping and rappelling options on this field trip.
