Junior Speleological Society (JSS)

Vermont is  one of the best  places in the World to raise children and for year round outdoor FUN!

The JSS program we have planned is going to be fun, adventurous, challenging and just plain  " COOL".

We have a huge space inside the Expo Convention Center, with our own entrance. Games, art materials, puzzles, and books will be available, along with balls, frisbees, and Wii.

Here is the daytime schedule for the week (subject to change... but we'll try not to):

Monday:

  • Stowe and Waterbury
  • Smugglers Notch hike
  • Ben & Jerry’s ice cream factory
  • Obstacle Course or Alpine Slide (to be decided)

Tuesday:

  • Milton Gorge - kayak across river to caves on other side
    or
    Shelburne Museum

Wednesday:

  • Project Underground activities for kids
  • Downtown Burlington
  • ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center
  • Lake Champlain waterfront
  • Church St. Marketplace pedestrian mall
  • Swimming at North Beach

Thursday:

  • Kids vertical workshop Hike and/or swim

Friday:

  • Colchester Caves

Advance registration for all trips is required. Adult volunteers are still needed.
Contact Jane Youngbaer at janey@cabotschool.org or 802 454-7752 for more info and to sign up.

Note: Some fees for activities are not included in the registration fee.  Please be prepared for about $50.00 in extra fees per child, depending on what activities they want to participate in.

Please be aware that the JSS is not a day care service. We welcome all kids ages 7-17 to participate (and younger if accompanied by an adult). Activities will be chaperoned, but kids do not sign in and out because we are not legally permitted to take responsibility for them.
