Amtrak:
For train travelers, Essex Junction is served by the Vermonter, the Amtrak train that runs from Washington DC to St. Albans, Vermont (Railroad City, and at the Canadian border). Directions to the convention site from other major airports:
From Boston’s Logan Airport
- Go northwest on ramp toward terminal C, stay straight onto MA-1/east Boston Expressway.
- Turn slight left; take the ramp onto I-93 north. You will stay on I-93N for about 63.5 miles.
(The portion through New Hampshire is a toll road.)
- As you cross into Vermont you will merge onto I-89 North. You will stay on I-89N for 145.5 miles.
- The next turn will be to take Exit 12 on the right onto RT.2A.
- At the bottom of the ramp turn right on Rt.2A.
Stay straight for about 3.5 miles.
- On your right you will see an IBM sign; you are coming up on Essex 5 corners.
- Get all the way in the left lane.
- At the intersection turn left onto Pearl St. for ½ mile. The Champlain Valley Expo is on your right.
From Montreal International Airport
- Start out going west on Boulevard Romeo-Vachon N for a ¼ mile. Then a slight left on to Boulevard Romeo-Vachon S for ¼ miles.
- Merge onto Autoroute 520 O toward AUT-20 for a ¼ mile.
- Enter the roundabout and take the 3rd exit onto the Montreal-Toronto HWY for a ¼ mile.Stay straight to go onto Autoroute 20 E for 6.5 miles.
- Take the AUT-20 E/ AUT 15S exit, Exit68 S, towardsAUT-10/ Pont Champlain/ USA/ Quebec just for a 1/8 mile.
- Merge onto Autoroute 15 S/ Autoroute 20 E for 5.5 miles.
- Then take Autoroute 10 E toward AUT-30/I-89 for 10 miles, then take the AUT-35 S exit, exit 22 towards I-89 / Vermont 1/3 of a mile.
- Merge onto Autoroute 35 S for 11.5 miles. Slight left onto Provincial Secondary route 133 S for 25.0 miles crossing into Vermont.
- Route 133 S will become Interstate 89 once you are in Vermont. Stay on the interstate for about 40 miles.
- Take the US-2/US-7 exit, Exit 16 toward VT 15. Turn right onto US-2 E / US-7 S for 1.1 miles.
- Turn slight left onto US-2 W/ US-7 N, then a slight right onto VT-15 E / E Allen St. Follow this road for 4.0 miles to the Champlain Valley Expo on your left.
Please remember that if you are coming from Canada you will need a passport to enter the USA.
From Albany International Airport
- Go northwest on Albany Shaker Rd/ NY-155N. Make a U-turn at CR-163 onto Albany Shaker Rd / CR-151S.
- Merge onto I-87 North via the ramp on the left. You will be on I-87 for 50.0 miles.
- Take exit 20 and turn left onto US-9 for a ½ mile.
- At light turn right onto RT-149 for 11 miles.
- At fourway intersection with light turn left onto US-4. Follow this for 10.5 miles crossing into Vermont. After crossing the border, continue 8 miles to exit 2 towards Fair Haven/ Vergennes.
- Turn left onto VT-22A for the next 42 miles. You will pass through the Town of Vergennes, the nation’s smallest city or so they say.
- You will come to US-7 N. Turn left for 19 miles. This is one of the main routes that run the length on the state, and a very beautiful drive.
- As you are coming into Burlington, you will merge right onto I-189 N for 1.5 miles, and then merge onto I-89 N via the exit on the left towards Winooski/ St. Albans for 3.0 miles.
- Take exit 15; turn right onto RT-15 E for 3.5 miles. The Champlain Valley Expo will be on your left.
